Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATIONS

As we are a small hotel, late cancellations and no-shows really affect our business,
therefore our deposit and cancellation policy are as follows:

• We require a deposit equal to full stay price (with taxes included) in 14 days
before your arrival date. This deposit is non-refundable.
• We will automatically cancel any reservation for which we do not receive
notification of payment within 10 days before arrival date.
• If you cancel your reservation before the period of 14 days before arrival, no
fees will be applied.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• All rates are subject to 13% sales tax.
• Rates are based on double occupancy.
• Guest allow to hotel to make a hold on credit card of $200.00 for each night
of stay - maximum of $1,000.00 - in case of uncharged incidentals or
damages at time of check out. This hold will be released by the Hotel 24
hours after the check out date. Then is subject to bank that issued the card.
• Makanda hotel offers rates that are with (only direct hotel reservations) and
without breakfast for your convenience.
• Guests that choose rates without breakfast may enjoy their breakfast à la
carte in our restaurant at an additional cost.
• There is a tree-night minimum stay for all holiday periods.
• Children under 18 years are not allowed (Adult Only policy).
• Pets are not allowed.
• Is not allowed to feed the animals, and not to try to tame-they are born and
brought up wildlife. Despite our co-existence, the hotel cannot be held
responsible for the reaction and behavior of flora and fauna. Keep the
balcony doors closed to avoid any guests from outside.
• The hotel has several recreational areas with swimming pools where you can
spend your stunning days. We respect the privacy of the guests but look
forward to your adequate behavior in the pool. Compliance with all the
necessary security measures - the customer's responsibility. Speakers are not
allowed in the common areas.
• The hotel is located on the slope and equipped with a footpath, so is
important to use them or use our free electric cars service. Spontaneous
jungle exploring (especially night time) are guest responsibility.
• If you order room service or visit our restaurant, please inform the restaurant
staff about the presence of allergy. The hotel is not responsible for the
aggravation of your allergy if necessary info was not provided.
• According to the law is prohibited to smoke in public places territory of
Costa Rica. In the case of smoking in the room will be written off additional
cleaning fee to your credit card in the amount of $1,000.00.
• While you are staying in hotel, your villa becomes your home, so you can
invite your guests on the hotel grounds during the day time, it is necessary to
inform reception in advance. Your guests must leave the territory of the
hotel in the same day, no later than 9:00 p.m. Responsibility for your guests
(including but not limited to liability for payment of services, safety of
property, etc.) are mandatory your responsibility.
• The hotel is not responsible for the safety of unattended valuable things.
There is a very spacious safe box in the room.
• Security system of hotel public areas are video surveillance methods that do
not record audio.
• Should the Customer decide to leave the hotel before the check-out date
stablished in the reservation, under ANY circumstances; full reservation
MUST be paid 100%. There might be a refund for the non-used nights
ONLY after Management and/or Ownership states and confirms it.
• In case of a positive COVID Test results, Customer agrees to follow the
protocols stablished by the Ministerio de Salud de Costa Rica:
A. Quarantine in the Hotel, same room, same rate; paying for their extra
expenses, 100% (room/food,etc).
B. Quarantine in a Ministerio de Salud Shelter, in which case the Hotel
would contact the Authorities to arrange the movement and transportation to
a Shelter.
